[Madness: Ascend]

Wowza!

Kinda chilling ending. Loved it.

Minor points off for lack of pacing in some of the action sequences (in particular, the lobby scenes felt a little slow); otherwise solid stuff.

This flash gave me chills virtually all the way through. It was a tiny bit confusing at a few points and the animation was a bit sketchy, but only enough to bring it down from a 10 to a 9. I'd give it a 9.5 if I could.

Very nice to see the raw carnage and brutality of Madness mixed in with the power of emotions. As Metalocalypse once observed, parenthood can be one of the most brutal things of all.

Absolutely Stupendous

Admittedly, sprite manips, especially about Nintendo games, are done to death.

But you, Alvin, have elevated the artform to a whole new level. Indeed, with this series, you have single-handedly set the bar for sprite battles - in fact, you may have even given some of those fluid-anim stick combos a run for their money, at least with your choreography! The conception of these fights is absolutely flawless.

The story is engaging and I love the way you parallel everything with DBZ. The mushrooms with various dots at the beginning? The radar that finds the seven magic items? The fighting style itself, in many cases; it's an homage to a beloved show, with way more awesome fighting per episode than DBZ could ever hope to boast.

If I had a single point of criticism, I would have to think long and hard to come up with it, because the awesome of this work (the series as a whole, but especially this episode) is simply overwhelming. Be proud of what you've achieved, here; you've made countless thousands truly happy with your work.

Cute characters, nice animation, decent concept. I'm not sure if sound effects/voice acting might have improved this? Something to consider.

omg epic win

THIS IS SO EPIC. The animation is so smooth and detailed, so colorful; the story is a classic tale of a hero from humble beginnings rising to greatness against his corrupt adversary; magic and dungeons; bug squashing! This short has everything. Seriously I thought it was going to be done right around the time the pyramid was finished and then, suddenly, SUCH EPIC ADVENTURE! I am truly impressed by this, sir. Please give my compliments to Katan for his quick thinking and survival skills. ;)
